Dear Debaters, Coaches, Judges, Teachers, and all those in the debate community,

2009 was a challenging, eventful, and exciting year. For the Debate Association (Singapore), we saw a fresh young team come on board to take on the (very rewarding) challenge of spreading our passion for debating to a new generation of students. The team rolled out many new programs, a new web experience (you’re browsing it now!)… and we’re still not done yet! 2010 will see us making an announcement that may change the inter-school debate landscape for many years to come – but we don’t want to spoil the surprise just yet. 2010 will also see us launching the Debate Luminaries Program (a series of talks by eminent local debaters), a few more non-WSDC style debate competitions to add spice to the circuit, and (fingers tightly crossed) will have us re-launching The Arena (Season 3) with Mediacorp on TV. We are also launching some programs tailored exclusively for our members – the exclusive interview with Singapore’s WSDC team that made it to the Grand Finals in 2007  will only be made available to members.

With so many things to look forward to, I’m sure 2010 will be a great way to start the new decade. We wish all our members and readers a Happy (and debate-filled) New Year!

The members of the DA(S) exco are:

We’ve hit the ground running with some great ideas, and while we don’t want to spoil all the surprises, here’s a sneak peek at some of the key new projects that will be rolled out in the coming months: (more…)
